System Testing

NOTE: Before beginning system testing, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
NOTE: A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required to test the system. If New Generation Star (NGS) tester does not communicate with vehicle, refer to NGS tester manual.

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Perform DATALINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If NGS tester responds with CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 70=ALL MODULES NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, diagnose network concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If NGS tester responds with, NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting (SCIL) module, go to TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH SCIL MODULE  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.

If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED for SCIL module, retrieve DTCs for SCIL module. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test. See STEERING COLUMN/IGNITION/LIGHTING (SCIL) MODULE DTC DEFINITIONS table. If no DTCs were retrieved, repair system by symptom. See SYMPTOM CHART  and perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING  .
