Alcohol Lock (7/238) [2018-2022]: Description

The alcohol lock is used for breath analysis as an ignition inhibitor. It prevents the vehicle from being started when the alcohol content in the breath sample exceeds a certain level.

The test can fail due to different reasons such as moisture in the alcohol lock or the analysis being done in extreme temperatures. If that happens, the test must be taken again to assure an accurate reading.

The alcohol lock may require calibration upon installation, and at regular intervals.

If the breath analysis indicates an approved result, the sensor informs the Central Electronic Module (CEM) that an engine start is allowed.
