Troubleshooting Information

The roof-mounted system for rear seat entertainment (RSE) does not include any diagnostic functions and is not connected to the vehicle's CAN-net.

This means, e. g., that no diagnostic trouble codes can be read out from the unit. All troubleshooting must take place using symptom troubleshooting.

The following is troubleshooting information that may facilitate when troubleshooting in the system.

Symptom Malfunction cause Malfunction investigation
The system does not start.
  1. No ignition
  2. Reverse gear is engaged
  3. Poor batteries in remote control
  4. Low voltage on the car battery
  5. Blown fuse
  6. Poor connection
  1. Switch on the ignition.
  2. Disengage reverse gear
  3. Replace batteries in remote control
  4. Start car engine
  5. Check fuse
  6. Check connections
Monitor does not turn off.
  1. Poor batteries in remote control
  2. Blown fuse
  1. Replace batteries in remote control
  2. Check fuse
No contact with DVD-player.
  1. DVD-player is not selected as media source
  2. No or defect disc in DVD-player
  3. System is off
  4. Blown fuse
  1. Select DVD-player as media source
  2. Change DVD-disc
  3. Switch on the system
  4. Check fuse
DVD-player does not eject disc.
  1. System is off
  2. Blocking
  3. No or defect disc in player
  4. Blown fuse
  1. Switch on the system
  2. Remove blocking
  3. Wait 20 seconds and try to eject disc again. If nothing happens, try inserting a disc to, see if the DVD-player is empty.
  4. Check fuse
System does not react to signals from remote control.
  1. No ignition
  2. Poor batteries in remote control
  3. Blown fuse
  1. Switch on the ignition.
  2. Replace batteries in remote control
  3. Check fuse
No or poor sound in headphones.
  1. Poor batteries (only IR-headphones)
  2. Headphones not on (only IR-headphones)
  3. Headphones not correctly connected (only wired headphones)
  4. System is off
  5. Volume too low
  6. No or defect disc in DVD-player
  7. Headphones are outside IR-coverage (only IR-headphones)
  8. Incorrect media source selected
  1. Change batteries in headphones
  2. Turn on headphones
  3. Unplug and plug in headphone cable in correct outlet
  4. Switch on the system
  5. Increase volume
  6. Eject disc. If nothing happens, try inserting a disc to, see if the DVD-player is empty.
  7. Test headphones closer to IR-transmitter
  8. Select correct media source
No or poor picture on monitor.
  1. Disc cannot be copied
  2. Disc has unknown format
  3. System is not on
  4. No or defect disc in DVD-player
  5. Incorrect media source selected
  1. Contact dealer who sold disc
  2. Use a disc with correct format
  3. Switch on the system
  4. Eject disc. If nothing happens, try inserting a disc to, see if the DVD-player is empty.
  5. Select correct media source
No or poor sound in loudspeakers.
  1. Sound is off
  2. Volume too low
  3. System is not on
  4. No or defect disc in DVD-player
  5. Incorrect media source selected
  1. Turn on sound
  2. Increase volume
  3. Switch on the system
  4. Eject disc. If nothing happens, try inserting a disc to, see if the DVD-player is empty.
  5. Select correct media source
