Computerized Engine Controls: Notes

The S70 and V70 non-turbo 5-cylinder models use a DENSO fuel injection and electronic ignition system. All other models use a Bosch ME 7 engine management system. See ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION  table. Both systems have complete self-diagnostic capabilities. Systems use a single Powertrain Control Module (ECM) that receives input from engine monitoring sensors. See INPUT DEVICES . ECM uses these input signals to control air/fuel mixture for emission control, fuel economy and good driveability.
