Drive Axles: Description

Rear axle assembly uses a hypoid type ring and pinion gear set. Semi-floating axle shafts are retained in housing by tapered roller bearings and a bearing retainer at housing outer ends. Bearing clearance is not adjustable and is determined by bearing design. Differential adjustment is accomplished by the use of shims.
