Fascia Assembly - Front - Remove And Install: Remove
- Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
- Use the touchscreen to set the air suspension ride height to "Very High".
- Use the touchscreen to set the air suspension into "Jack Mode".
- Turn the steering wheel fully to the right.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install) .
- Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the upper portion of the front fascia to the vehicle.
7 N.m (5.2 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Release the clip and the tabs (x8) that attach the LH front wheel arch liner cover to the LH front wheel arch liner, and then remove the cover from the liner.
- Remove the bolts (x2) and release the tab that attach the LH front wheel fairing to the valance, and then remove the fairing from the valance.
1.5 N.m (1.1 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Release the clips (x5) and tabs (x8) that attach the LH front fender garnish to the vehicle, disconnect the electrical connector, and then remove the fender garnish from the vehicle.
- Remove the clips (x3) that attach the LH front wheel arch liner to the valence.
- Remove the screw that attaches LH side of the front fascia assembly to the LH front fender.
1.5 N.m (1.1 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T25 socket
- Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
- Turn the steering wheel fully to the left.
- Repeat step 10 through step 13 for the RH side of the vehicle.
- Remove the screw that attaches the front fascia assembly to the RH front fender.
1.5 N.m (1.1 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T25 socket
LH shown; RH similar
- Apply protective tape to the edges of the LH and RH front fenders that are adjacent to the front fascia.NOTE: This is to prevent fender paint damage when releasing the front fascia from the vehicle.
LH fender on Model S shown; RH fender/Model X similar
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
- Release the locking tabs, and then disconnect the front fascia assembly electrical connectors (x2).
- Remove the bolts (x3) and clips (x2) that attach the lower portion of the front fascia assembly to the valence.
3 N.m (2.2 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- With assistance, release the front fascia assembly from the LH and RH fender brackets, and then remove the assembly from the vehicle.NOTE: Place the assembly on a protected surface to avoid damage.
