Airbag - Knee - Driver - Remove and Install: Remove
- Open the all doors and fully lower all windows.
- Remove the LH center console side panel carpet. See SIDE PANEL - CENTER CONSOLE - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD APRON - REAR (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV POWER (DISCONNECT AND CONNECT) .
- Remove the driver footwell cover. See COVER - FOOTWELL - DRIVER (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Remove the T20 bolts (x2) that attach the driver knee airbag to the vehicle.
2 N.m (1.5 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 socket
- 1/4 in std ratchet
- 4 in extension
- Wiha TorqueVario-S 0.8 N.m - 2.0 N.m screwdriver (installation only)
- Wiha torque setter
- 1/4 in to 3/8 in adapter
- Remove and discard the bolts (x4) that attach the driver knee airbag to the instrument panel.
8 N.m (5.9 ft-lbs)
or
8 N.m (5.9 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
- 1/4 in std ratchet
or
- External Torx E10
- 3/8 in std ratchet
- 3 in extension
- 1/4 in torque wrench (installation only)
- 1/4 in to 3/8 in adapter
- Release the clip that attaches the driver knee airbag electrical harness to the lower instrument panel.
- Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the driver knee airbag, and then remove the airbag from the vehicle.
