Bleed Or Flush Procedure - System - Remove And Replace: Procedure

Special tools required for this procedure:

  1. Fill the pressure bleeder from a new brake fluid container.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift .
  3. Open the hood.
  4. Remove the center underhood apron Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove And Replace) .
  5. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.
  6. Top off the brake fluid reservoir, if necessary.
  7. Install the pressure bleeder on the brake fluid reservoir.
  8. Set the pressure on the pressure bleeder to 30 psi.
  9. Remove all 4 wheels Wheel (Remove And Install) .
  10. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable height.
  11. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle.
  12. Using Toolbox, open the Brake Bleeding  panel.
  13. Remove the bleeder covers (x2) from the LH front caliper.
  14. Install the brake fluid catching bottle to the LH front caliper outer bleeder nipple, and then loosen the outer nipple.

  15. Make sure that the drive rail is on.
  16. Using Toolbox, select Circuit 2  > Pump Run Time  , select 5 Seconds  , and then click the blue triangle to start the brake bleeding sequence.
  17. Allow the pump to run, allow an additional 5 seconds after it is done running, and then tighten the bleed screw (torque 18 N.m).
  18. Repeat steps  16 and  17 on the inner bleed screw.
  19. Install the bleeder covers (x2) onto the LH front brake caliper.
  20. Remove the bleeder covers (x2) from the RH front caliper.
  21. Install the brake fluid catching bottle to the RH front caliper outer bleeder nipple, and then loosen the outer nipple. Let the brake fluid bleed for approximately 10 seconds before starting the Toolbox bleeding routine.
  22. Using Toolbox, select Circuit 1  > Pump Run Time  , select 5 Seconds  , and then click the blue triangle to start the brake bleeding sequence.
  23. Allow the pump to run, allow an additional 5 seconds after it is done running, and then tighten the bleed screw (torque 18 N.m).
  24. Repeat steps  22 and  23 on the inner bleed screw.
  25. Install the bleeder covers (x2) onto the RH front brake caliper.
  26. Remove the bleeder covers (x2) from the RH rear caliper.
  27. Install the brake fluid catching bottle to the RH rear caliper outer bleeder nipple, and then loosen the outer nipple. Let the brake fluid bleed for approximately 10 seconds before starting the Toolbox bleeding routine.
  28. Using Toolbox, select Circuit 2  > Pump Run Time  , select 5 Seconds  , and then click the blue triangle to start the brake bleeding sequence.
  29. Allow the pump to run, allow an additional 5 seconds after it is done running, and then tighten the bleed screw (torque 18 N.m).
  30. Repeat steps  28 and  29 on the inner bleed screw.
  31. Install the bleeder covers (x2) onto the RH rear brake caliper.
  32. Remove the bleeder covers (x2) from the LH rear caliper.
  33. Install the brake fluid catching bottle to the LH rear caliper outer bleeder nipple, and then loosen the outer nipple. Let the brake fluid bleed for approximately 10 seconds before starting the Toolbox bleeding routine.
  34. Using Toolbox, select Circuit 1  > Pump Run Time  , select 5 Seconds  , and then click the blue triangle to start the brake bleeding sequence.
  35. Allow the pump to run, allow an additional 5 seconds after it is done running, and then tighten the bleed screw (torque 18 N.m).
  36. Repeat steps  34 and  35 on the inner bleed screw.
  37. Install the bleeder covers (x2) onto the LH rear brake caliper.
  38. Remove the brake pressure bleeder from the vehicle.
  39. Check the brake fluid level and top it off, if necessary.
  40. Reinstall the brake reservoir cap.
  41. Using Toolbox, select the Brake Stiffness Test  panel, and then click the blue triangle to run the test. Click Finish  when completed. If the Brake Stiffness Test  fails, perform this procedure again.
  42. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  43. Reinstall the instrument panel cubby.
    NOTE: Make sure to route the Ethernet and CAN communication cables prior to installation.
  44. Install all 4 wheels Wheel (Remove And Install) .
  45. Install the center underhood apron Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove And Replace) .
  46. Close the hood.
  47. Perform a road test using a series of aggressive stops to make sure there is proper pedal feel and brake performance.
