HANDSFREE Off Switch Does Not Function

NOTE: Before performing diagnosis, initialize the power rear gate system by opening the power rear gate in manual operation, and then operating the power rear gate auto closer in the partially latched state.

CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT) .
1. Disconnect the connector of body integrated unit.
2. Disconnect the connector of handsfree OFF switch.
3. Using the tester, measure the voltage between the body integrated unit connector and the handsfree OFF switch connector.

  (i83) No. 25 - (il42) No. 1:
Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Yes : Go to 2.

No : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT) .
Measure the resistance between body integrated unit connector and chassis ground using tester.

Connector & terminal

(i83) No. 25 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?

Yes : Go to 3.

No : Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.
CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT) .
Using a tester, measure the resistance between handsfree OFF switch connector and chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(i142) No. 4 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Yes : Go to 4.

No : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
CHECK HANDSFREE OFF SWITCH .
Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals of handsfree OFF switch connector.

Terminals

No. 1 - No. 4:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more at OFF, and less than 1 Ω at ON?

Yes : Go to 5.

No : Replace the handsfree OFF switch. Refer to SECURITY AND LOCKS>HANDSFREE POWER REAR GATE .
CHECK LAN SYSTEM .
Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Refer to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .

Is the check result OK?

Yes : Replace Power rear gate Control Module. Refer to POWER REAR GATE SYSTEM>POWER REAR GATE CONTROL MODULE .

No : Perform the inspection according to the diagnosis for LAN system. Refer to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
