Inspection steps

CAUTION: When the skid control ECM (brake actuator assembly) has been replaced, make sure to perform [VDC sensor midpoint setting mode]. (Refer to WORK SUPPORT  )
  1. Diagnostic code check (CAN communication system)
    1. Check CAN communication system. (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )

      Result

      Result Go to
      No output A
      Output exists B

      B: To CAN communication system (How to troubleshoot) (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )

      A: Go to next step

  2. Inspection of skid control ECM connector connection
    1. Check if the skid control ECM connector is properly connected.

      Criteria: The connector is properly connected.

      NG: Properly connect the connector to the ECM.

      OK: Go to next step

  3. Check the battery.
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard voltage: 11 to 14 V

      NG: Repair or replace charging system components or battery (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

      OK: Go to next step

  4. Check the Current Data Display (TRC/VSC OFF mode)
    1. Connect the SSM3 to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Using SSM3, check [Current Data Display] of [TRC/VSC OFF Mode]. (Refer to CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE  )

      Normal Mode: Normal mode
      TRC OFF mode: TRC OFF mode
      VSC OFF mode: Vehicle stability control OFF mode
      -
    4. Using SSM3, make sure that the state of the switch displayed in SSM3 changes depending on the Vehicle stability control OFF switch operation.

      Criteria: The display of the SSM3 changes depending on the operation of Vehicle stability control OFF switch.

      NG: Go to Step  6.

      OK: Go to next step

  5. Combination meter assembly check
    1. Using SSM3, display [System Operation Check Mode] of the combination meter assembly (meter CPU). (Refer to CURRENT DATA DISPLAY & SAVE/SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK MODE )
    2. Check the combination meter assembly.

      Criteria: TRC OFF indicator light turns ON/OFF in response to SSM3 operation.

      NOTE: If this page is referred while performing troubleshooting described in the symptom table, go back to the table and go to the next step before replacing parts. (Refer to SYMPTOM TABLE  )

      NG: Replacement of combination meter assembly (Refer to COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY )

      OK: Replacement of brake actuator assembly (Refer to REMOVAL  )

  6. Vehicle stability control OFF switch check
    1. Check the Vehicle stability control OFF switch. (Refer to INSTALLATION  )

      NG: Replacement of Vehicle stability control OFF switch (Refer to VSC (VDC) OFF SWITCH  )

      OK: Go to next step

  7. Harness and connector check (skid control ECM - Vehicle stability control OFF switch)
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the following table.

      Normal resistance

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester connection Condition Specific condition
      A5-12 (CSW) - D35-5 Always 1 Ωor less
      A5-12(CSW) - chassis ground Always 10 kΩ or more
      D35-8 - chassis ground Always 1 Ωor less

      NG: Repair or replacement of wiring harness or connector

      OK: Replacement of brake actuator assembly (Refer to REMOVAL  )
