- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS hydraulic unit harness connectors ABS1 and F9. See Fig 1. Check resistance between hydraulic unit connector terminals. See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT RESISTANCE table. Resistance should be 7.8-9.2 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace hydraulic unit.

- Disconnect ABS control unit connectors. Check voltage between ground and hydraulic unit connector terminals. See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE FOR SHORT table. If voltage exists, replace hydraulic unit. If voltage does not exist, turn ignition on and repeat test. If voltage exists, replace hydraulic 6unit. If voltage does not exist, go to next step.

- Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and ABS control unit connector terminals. See CHECKING ABS WIRING FOR SHORT table. If continuity exists, repair wiring. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Reconnect hydraulic unit connector. Check resistance between ground and ABS control unit connector terminals. See CHECKING ABS WIRING FOR SHORT . If resistance is 8.3-9.7 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair wiring.
- Check ABS control unit connector and wheel sensor connector contacts. Clean as needed. If contacts are okay, go to next step.
- Reconnect all connectors. Erase memory. Recheck trouble codes. If same trouble code returns, replace ABS control unit. If other trouble codes exist, go to proper test procedure. If no trouble codes exist, problem was a temporary poor contact. Check harness and connectors.
