Draining & Refilling: Transaxle

  1. Remove drain plug and drain fluid. If oil screen is to be cleaned, remove oil pan. Oil screen retaining bolts should be tightened to 30-40 INCH lbs. (3.4-4.4 N.m) on XT Series and 53-71 INCH lbs. (6-8 N.m) on all others.
  2. Replace oil pan with new gasket. Tighten oil pan bolts to 30-40 INCH lbs. (3.4-4.4 N.m). Install drain plug with new gasket. Tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 N.m).
  3. Fill transmission with about 3 qts. of ATF. Start engine and check fluid level with engine idling. Add fluid as necessary. DO NOT  overfill.
