Power Steering Pump: Installation
- Install bracket on engine if removed. Using 2 wrenches, install hydraulic pipe on pump. Install a new "O" ring on reservoir. Install reservoir on pump.
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill reservoir with fluid. Attach ground cable to battery. Raise and support vehicle. Slowly turn steering wheel lock-to-lock.
- Repeat procedure until bubbles stop appearing in the reservoir. Do not allow fluid level to become low at any time during this procedure.
- Start engine and let idle. Slowly turn steering wheel from lock-to-lock. Repeat until bubbles stop appearing in reservoir. Stop Engine. Lower Vehicle.NOTE: It is normal for bubbles to be present after 3 complete right and left turns.
- Check and fill reservoir as necessary. Start engine and let idle. Turn steering wheel from lock-to-lock. Check for bubbles in reservoir.
- Continue procedure until bubbles stop appearing. If bubbles still appear, stop engine and let vehicle sit for 1/2 hour or more, then repeat step 5). Check for leakage at hose and line connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
