VSC OFF Indicator Light Remains ON: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [07/2013 - 12/2013] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output. A
      DTC is output. B

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK IF BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    NG → CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard Voltage

      11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Select the Data List using the Techstream. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [07/2013 - ] .
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      TRC(TRAC)/VSC Off Mode TR(A)C/VSC OFF mode / Normal, TRC(TRAC) OFF or VSC OFF Normal: Normal mode

    4. Using the Techstream, check that the switch condition displayed on the Techstream changes according to VSC OFF switch operation.

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to VSC OFF switch operation.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VSC SPORT SWITCH) 
    1. Select the Data List using the Techstream. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [07/2013 - ] .
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      Sports Mode VSC SPORT mode / Normal or Sports Normal: Normal mode
      Sports: VSC SPORT mode

    2. Using the Techstream, check that the switch condition displayed on the Techstream changes according to VSC SPORT switch operation.

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to VSC SPORT switch operation.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Perform an Active Test of the combination meter assembly (meter CPU) using the Techstream. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [07/2013 - 12/2013] .
    2. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK

      The VSC OFF indicator and VSC SPORT indicator lights turn on or off in accordance with the Active Test operation.

      HINT: 

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [07/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   12 

    OK → See step   11 

  7. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH 
    1. Remove the VSC OFF switch. Refer to REMOVAL [07/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the VSC OFF switch. Refer to INSPECTION [07/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-12 (CSW1) - D35-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-12 (CSW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D35-8 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      HINT: 

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [07/2013 - ] .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   11 

  9. INSPECT VSC SPORT SWITCH 
    1. Remove the VSC SPORT switch. Refer to REMOVAL [07/2013 - ] .
    2. Inspect the VSC SPORT switch. Refer to INSPECTION [07/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - VSC SPORT SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-27(CSW2) - D35-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-27(CSW2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D35-8 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      HINT: 

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [07/2013 - ] .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   11 

  11. REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2013 - ] 
  12. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2013 - ] 
  13. CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM COMPONENT OR BATTERY. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [07/2013 - ] 
  14. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [07/2013 - 12/2013] 
  15. REPLACE PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2013 - ] 
  16. REPLACE PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2013 - ]
