Parking Brake Cable

NOTE:
After adjustments, ensure there is no drag when parking brake control lever is being released. Ensure toggle lever returns to stopper when parking brake lever is released.
- Remove center console parking brake lever finish plate. Fully engage control lever and loosen cable adjusting nut. Fully release lever. Adjust rear parking brake shoe clearance. See REAR PARKING BRAKE SHOES .
- Operate the lever 10 or more times with a full stroke of 8.5 in. (216 mm).
- Access the self-locking adjuster nut in the center console. Insert the socket and rotate the self locking nut to adjust the lever stroke. See Fig 1 .
- Turn adjuster nut until parking brake lever stroke is 7-8 notches with the force of 44 lbs. (20 kg).
- With the lever completely returned, make sure that there is no drag on the rear brake and the toggle lever fully returns to stopper when control lever is fully released.
- Bend warning lamp switch plate to adjust so warning lamp illuminates when lever is depressed 1 notch. Ensure lamp goes off when lever is fully released.
