Circuit Description

Cruise control clutch is used to engage cruise control motor to cruise control module cable mechanism. When brake pedal is depressed, brake release switch will cut power to both cruise control module and PCM. This will provide a signal to PCM to open ground side of cruise control clutch control circuit (Light Blue wire). It will also provide a signal to cruise control module to open power side of cruise control clutch control circuit (internal). DTC P1587 will set when cruise control clutch is turned off and PCM detects low voltage (less than 1.25 volts) at ground side of cruise control clutch control circuit. DTC P1587 will not illuminate Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL).
