Test C: Horn Does Not Sound When Door Is Open With Security System Armed
- Check horn operation. Press horn button on steering wheel. If horn operates, go to next step. If horn does not operate, repair horn as necessary. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Using Tech 2 scan tool, check security system mode (horn enabled). If security system is in proper mode, go to next step. If security system is not in proper mode, program security system using Tech 2 scan tool and perform SECURITY SYSTEM CHECK .
- Lower driver's window. Close all doors. Press LOCK button on remote keyless entry transmitter until horn chirp is heard. Reach into passenger compartment and manually unlock and open driver's door. If horn operates, go to next step. If horn does not operate, go to step 5.
- Rearm security system. Repeat procedure for all doors, one at a time. If system operates correctly for all doors, system is okay. If system does not operate correctly, check door jamb switch and circuit for suspect door for a short to ground.
- Using Tech 2 scan tool, monitor horn relay feedback. If horn relay feedback changes states, repair horn as necessary. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If horn relay feedback does not change states, replace horn relay. If problem still exists, replace BCM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. Repeat SECURITY SYSTEM CHECK .
