Description & Operation
Axle shafts consists of a shaft with inboard and outboard Constant Velocity (CV) joints. CV joints are protected from contamination by CV boots, which also retains lubricant for CV joints. Inboard CV joints are a plunging type joint to allow for suspension travel. Outer CV joints pivot to allow for steering while axles drive front wheels. Outer CV joint is splined to hub assembly and secured by an axle shaft hub nut.
