Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies as needed. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Loosen, do not remove, the steering linkage outer tie rod nut (2) from the steering linkage outer tie rod end (1).
  4. Install J-42188-B  between the steering knuckle and the steering linkage outer tie rod (1). See Special Tools .
  5. Tighten the nut on J-42188-B  until the steering knuckle and the steering linkage outer tie rod (1) separate. See Special Tools .
  6. Remove J-42188-B  and the steering linkage outer tie rod nut (2). See Special Tools .

  8. Loosen the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (2) on the steering linkage inner tie rod (1).
  9. Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod nut (3) and the steering linkage outer tie rod (5) from the steering knuckle (4).
  10. NOTE: Count the number of full rotations taken to remove the steering linkage outer tie rod from the steering linkage inner tie rod. This will assist in the installation and toe adjustments.
  11. Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod (5) from the steering linkage inner tie rod (1).
