Diagnostic Aids
Intermittent problem may be caused by poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or broken wire inside the insulation. Enhanced Diagnostic feature of Tech 1 can be used to check frequency of problem.
If frequency of failure is low, repair other codes first. Clear codes. Turn ignition on for 5 seconds and off for 5 seconds. Repeat this process 10 times.
If ANTI-LOCK warning indicator goes off after 3 seconds each time, but Code A014 is still present when reading codes, then Code A014 is caused by vehicle transient voltage and should be ignored.
Any circuit suspected of causing intermittent problem should be checked thoroughly for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken connector locks, damaged terminals or poor terminal to wiring connections.
Check for vibration effects using Relay Test feature on Tech 1. With Relay Test activated, lightly tap top and sides of enable relay while monitoring relay voltage.
If relay voltage changes significantly, replace enable relay. If Code A014 is only set when vehicle is initially started in cold ambient temperatures less than 32°F (-0°C), replace enable relay.
