NO START - INOPERATIVE FUEL PUMP, IN-TANK FUEL PUMP WIRING
YEAR(S): 1986.5 & Up
MANUFACTURER: Nissan
MODEL(S): Hardbody Trucks
ISSUE & TIP
On 1986.5 and newer Nissan trucks (Hardbody models), an inoperative fuel pump may cause a no-start. Look for the cause of the problem on top of the fuel tank. The wiring going to the in-tank fuel pump may break off or corrode at the electrical connections on top of the tank.
Trucks that have been used for off road driving seem to develop this problem more quickly than trucks that are used for regular pavement duty. Dirt and moisture becomes trapped on top of the tank and goes to work on the less than watertight electrical connectors.
