TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

Reference Number(s): SI M04 01 24, Date of Issue:  March 01, 2024
MINI: All Models

SITUATION

In light of BMW Group's continuing efforts to become more environmentally friendly (by reducing waste) and to increase claim accuracy/efficiency (by dispensing/billing exact amounts needed per vehicle application), MINI NA is transitioning from 12 fl. oz. plastic bottles of our DOT 4 LV brake fluid to 30 liter drums of DOT 4 LV brake fluid for use in your workshop.

MINI NA has tested, approved, and released the following Brake Fluid Flush Machine(s) for use at all MINI service locations to support the new 30 liter drums. These device(s) have been added to the MINI Equipment Program and are available for purchase at https://www.minidealersolutions.com

IMPORTANT: Use of these approved bulk brake fluid flush devices, or equivalent, together with the new 30 l brake fluid drums are a provisional DORA workshop equipment requirement in 2024. It will become mandatory for 2025. The 2.5 and 4.0 gallon red brake bleed machines will continue to be supported - a new device for metered filling of these units using the new 30 liter drums will be introduced shortly.

Once your workshop is properly equipped with these bulk brake fluid flush devices, your Parts Department should immediately begin taking the necessary steps to adjust and reduce their standing inventory of the 12 fl. oz. bottles to an appropriate level to support them being used solely for over-the-counter part sales going forward.
