Exide Replacement Batteries

INFORMATION

As previously announced, Exide Technologies is no longer the supplier of replacement car batteries for MINI USA, a division of BMW of North America, LLC ("MINI USA").

MINI USA's Original Equipment (OE) replacement battery supplier as of September 9, 2013 is East Penn Manufacturing Company.

SITUATION

Contrary to any other messages that you may have heard, any MINI batteries purchased directly from Exide are not eligible for coverage under the MINI limited warranties.

POLICY

Only Original MINI Parts purchased from MINI USA, which includes:

New;
Remanufactured; and
Fluids, lubricants and materials available through the MINI Chemical Program, are to be used when performing any repairs that are covered under the New Passenger Car Limited Warranty unless otherwise required by law.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Only parts purchased from MINI USA are eligible to be submitted to MINI USA for claim reimbursement.

These are the only parts eligible to receive coverage under the terms of the MINI limited warranty that applies.

If your dealer should use batteries obtained directly from Exide Technologies for which there is a subsequent failure, the issue of that part's warranty coverage must be addressed directly to Exide Technologies. This is not a MINI USA warranty issue.
