Removal & Installation (F150)

Remove the steering column. See appropriate STEERING COLUMNS article in STEERING. Remove the insert plate and shift interlock actuator. Remove the bolts. See Figure.
The shift interlock actuator clip is an assembly aid for the assembly plant, and does not need to be replaced in the field. Remove the insert plate from the shift interlock actuator. Remove and discard the shift interlock actuator clip. See Fig 1.
To install, follow the removal procedure in reverse order. On F150, torque shift interlock actuator bolts to 80 INCH lbs. (9 N.m). On all others, torque shift interlock actuator bolts to 62-98 INCH lbs. (7-11 N.m).
