MERCEDES-BENZ: Model 117, 176, 246 with code B56 Drive Kit Plus for iPhone(R); Model 176, 204, 207, 212, 218, 246 without code B56 and retrofitted Drive Kit Plus for iPhone(R) (accessory)
DESIGN GROUP: 82.85 Navigation and Communication system (CNS, ICS, COMAND, FleetBoard)
REASON FOR CHANGE: Validity adapted; Reference to new functions

COMPLAINT

  1. - Various malfunctions in Drive Kit Plus (poor sound quality, distorted audio output,.....)
  2. - Individual functions, e.g. Siri, are not supported by the Drive Kit Plus

The following part numbers are affected:

  1. - A172 870 02 96 (Drive Kit Plus basic kit for COMAND)
  2. - A172 870 04 96 (Drive Kit Plus basic kit for Audio 20)
  3. - A212 820 03 76 (Drive Kit Plus full kit for COMAND for model series 204, 212, 218, 207)
  4. - A176 820 00 76 (Drive Kit Plus full kit for COMAND for model series MFA)
  5. - A212 820 04 76 (Drive Kit Plus full kit for Audio 20 for model series 204, 212, 218, 207)
  6. - A176 820 01 76 (Drive Kit Plus full kit for Audio 20 for model series MFA)

CAUSE

Software release

REMEDY

Update the software of the Drive Kit Plus control unit to version E141.2 or higher. A flash adapter incl. USB stick which can be ordered via the usual parts ordering processes (see parts note) is required for this purpose.

Procedure/downloading software: 

Instructions for this process are attached to this LI (see sttachment)

Software for performing the update can be found in STAR TekInfo under the following menu item:

Telematics > Media Interface > Drive Kit Plus SW Update

Install the software on the USB stick as described in the instructions and flash to the control unit using the special tool.

NOTE:
  1. - The Siri function is available as of software release E50.4.
  2. - The Car-to-X function is possible as of software release E141.2.
