TOPIC
Engines with camshaft position codes
CAUSE / EXPLANATION
Tip for diagnosing camshaft position issues and timing appears correct but new positions cannot be taught-in and codes remain.
CORRECTION
Fabricate a harness using an old engine harness or shop supplies so that the connections for the cam position sensors can be swapped from one bank to the other. If the code(s) remain the same with the harness installed, the issue may be with the ME. If the code(s) change to the opposite bank then a mechanical issue is the cause. i.e. oil pressure or stretched chain.
