	Remove/install
	Risk of explosion caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. 1	Disconnect battery ground cable	Do not connect a quiescent current retention device. Risk of short circuit!	AR54.10-P-0003I
		Vehicles with Keyless Go, Code 889: Switch off engine, remove Keyless Go cards out of vehicle and store outside of the transmitter range.
		Turn key in electronic ignition switch EIS into position "0". Key cannot be withdrawn.

3	Unscrew nut (6), remove coolant expansion reservoir (7) and swing to one side	Do not dismount lines.
4	Remove air intake pipe (8)	Only right side
5	Unclip and remove engine cover (9)
6	Remove fan shroud	Only vehicles with engine 113.	AR20.40-P-6800AB
7	Unscrew bolts (3) of the alternator (G2)		*BA15.40-P-1003-01A
8	Disconnect electrical line circuit 30 (B+) (1) and electrical line circuit 61 (D+) (2).	Installation: Observe installation position of electrical line circuit 30 (B+) (1).
		Nut of circuit B+ to alternator	*BA15.40-P-1001-01A
		Nut, circuit D+ to alternator	*BA15.40-P-1002-01A
9	Lift alternator (G2) up and out
10	Install in the reverse sequence
11	Carry out functional test
12	Perform basic programming		AR00.19-P-0200M
