Test C: Engine Cranks Slowly

  1. Check For Voltage At Starter

    Turn ignition off. Ensure transmission is in Park position. Raise and support vehicle. Measure voltage between starter solenoid "B" terminal and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is less than battery voltage, repair or replace battery cable or connections. Restore electrical connections and check system operation.

  2. By-Pass Switch Circuit

    Connect a remote starter switch between starter solenoid "B" and "S" terminals. See Figure . Activate remote starter switch. If starter cranks at normal speed, starter relay may have corroded contacts, repair or replace as necessary. If starter still cranks slowly, replace starter motor and solenoid. Restore electrical connections and check system operation.
