Pinpoint Test B - Wipers Inoperative

  1. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Set wiper control for high speed operation. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and Dark Green wire at wiper motor wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for open in Dark Green wire.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Interval Wiper/Washer Module (IWWM) connector. IWWM is located behind instrument panel, to left of steering column. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and Dark Green wire at IWWM harness connector. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage is present, reconnect IWWM connector and go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Dark Green wire to IWWM.
  3. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Set wiper switch for high speed operation. Measure voltage between Yellow/Red and White wires at wiper motor wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, test wiper motor. See WIPER MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace wiper motor as necessary.
  4. Measure voltage between Yellow/Red and White wires at IWWM wiring harness connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, repair open in White wire and/or Yellow/Red wire between IWWM and wiper motor.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IWWM connector. Measure resistance between Brown/White and Orange wires at IWWM wiring harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace IWWM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/White wire or Orange wire between wiper switch and IWWM. If wires are okay, test wiper switch. See WIPER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTING.
