SERVICE INFORMATION
This Pitstop provides information regarding playing navigation prompts via Bluetooth® while using a phone navigation app (Apple Maps, Google Maps™, Waze™, etc.).
Note that playing Audio via Bluetooth is phone and app dependent. Kia Motors America cannot ensure that the Bluetooth prompts will be played via Bluetooth Audio.
APPLE MAPS
In order to play navigation prompts over Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth on your device and pair your device with the vehicle. Once your Apple device is connected, you can enable navigation prompts via Bluetooth by starting navigation to your destination, sliding up on the bottom of the screen and selecting the "Audio" Icon, see pictures below:
In the Audio setting screen, select the vehicle name (Default is: Kia Motors) and select the appropriate voice guidance level.
In order to hear the prompts, the customer must have the head unit set to the Bluetooth Audio Media mode. To hear prompts outside of the Bluetooth Audio media mode, enable "Allow HFP Prompts" and the phone will mimic a call to the head unit in order to play the commands. This will allow the customer to listen to the radio or other media modes while still receiving navigation prompts.
GOOGLE MAPS
In order to play navigation prompts over Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth on your device and pair your device with the vehicle. Once paired, follow the instructions below to enable "Play voice over Bluetooth" & Mute state: "Unmuted".
After the settings above have been enabled on the device, the navigation prompts will play via Bluetooth. In order to hear the prompts, the customer must have the head unit set to the Bluetooth Audio Media mode.
To hear prompts outside of the Bluetooth Audio media mode, enable "Play as Bluetooth phone call". This will allow the phone to mimic a call to the head unit in order to play the navigation prompts. This will allow the customer to listen to the radio or other media modes while still receiving navigation prompts.
