3.6L, 3.0L 4X4

CAUTION:

The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) is centered to the vehicles steering system. Failure to keep the system and steering column module centered and locked/inhibited from rotating can result in SCCM damage.

  1. Remove engine cradle crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, CRADLE, ENGINE AND SUSPENSION, REMOVAL .
  2. Disconnect both outer tie rod ends from steering knuckles. Refer to END, TIE ROD, REMOVAL .

  3. Remove the steering gear retaining nuts/bolts (2).
  4. Rotate and shift the steering gear to the right enough to lift the LH side of the steering gear above the engine cradle then remove the steering gear by moving to the right above the engine cradle.
