Clutch Pedal Position Switch
WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article for Cherokee or see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article for Wrangler.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect clutch pedal position switch connector. Switch is located on clutch pedal push rod. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the two cavities in switch half of connector with clutch pedal released. If continuity does not exist, switch is okay. If continuity exists, replace faulty switch.
- Depress clutch pedal. Check for continuity between the two cavities in switch half of connector. If continuity does not exist, replace faulty switch. If continuity exists, switch is okay, check ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH TEST .
