Towing (Recreational)

  1. On CJ7, Grand Wagoneer, Scrambler or Truck with the model 208 or 300 transfer case and automatic (manual) transmission, turn ignition switch to the "OFF" position to unlock the steering wheel.
  2. Shift automatic (manual) transmission into Park (gear) and transfer case into Neutral position. Place locking hubs in the LOCK" position to provide axle lubrication.
  3. On Grand Wagoneer or Truck with Select-Trac, shift the transmission into Neutral with the vehicle moving slowly (2-3 MPH). Using a firm, positive movement, shift the transfer case selector lever into Neutral.
  4. When the selector lever is in the Neutral position, both axles are disconnected from the drive train. This will permit the vehicle to be towed without removing the drive shafts.
