Diagnostic Procedure

For diagnostic procedure, see Fig 1 and Fig 2 . To check for an intermittent problem, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . After repair is complete, see VERIFYING VEHICLE REPAIR  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. To replace and reprogram ECM, see POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT  under POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE.

NOTE: For ECM location and connector view, see Figure and Figure . For engine control system component location, see Figure and Figure . For wiring diagrams, see ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. If testing requires component removal or replacement, see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article.
