Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform OBD-II system check. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC II (OBD-II) SYSTEM CHECK . After performing OBD-II system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read and record FAILURE RECORDS data for DTC P0341. Operate vehicle within conditions noted in FAILURE RECORDS data. Using scan tool, monitor specified DTC parameters. If scan tool displays DTC P0341 FAILED THIS IGN, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DTC P0341 FAILED THIS IGN, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Using DVOM, backprobe PCM harness connector terminal D11 (Blue wire). See Figure . With sensor connected, crank engine and monitor voltage. If voltage toggles from 0 to 4 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not toggle as described, go to step 7 .
- Check for poor connection at PCM harness connector terminal D11 (Blue wire). If a problem is found, go to next step. If no problem is found, go to step 6 .
- Repair damaged PCM harness connector or terminal D11. Retest system.
- Replace and reprogram PCM using required equipment. See PROGRAMMING . Retest system.
- Disconnect CMP sensor. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at CMP sensor harness connector between Brown wire and Green wire. See Figure . If reading is about 5 volts, go to step 12 . If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between CMP sensor harness connector Brown wire and ground. If reading is about 5 volts, go to step 10 . If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
- Repair open circuit between PCM main relay and CMP sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Retest system.
- Measure voltage between battery positive terminal and CMP sensor harness connector Green wire. If reading is around 5 volts, go to step 12 . If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
- Repair open circuit in Green wire between PCM harness connector terminal D8 and CMP sensor harness connector. See Figure and Figure . Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, check continuity of Blue wire between PCM harness connector terminal D11 and CMP sensor harness connector. See Figure and Figure . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, go to step 14 .
- Repair open circuit in Blue wire between PCM harness connector terminal D11 and CMP sensor harness connector. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Check Blue wire between PCM harness connector terminal D11 and CMP sensor harness connector for short to ground or to voltage. If problem is found, go to next step. If no problem is found, go to step 16 .
- Repair open or short circuit in Blue wire as necessary. Retest system.
- Replace CMP sensor. Retest system.
