Test A-3: Wheels Lock During Braking

  1. If ABS system operates, go to next step. If ABS system does not operate, perform basic diagnostic test. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  2. If vehicle speed is less than 6 MPH when wheels lock, operation is normal. If vehicle speed is 6 MPH or greater when wheels lock, go to next step.
  3. Check wheel speed sensor output. See TEST C-1: SENSOR OUTPUT INSPECTION under COMPONENT TESTS. If wheel speed sensor output is okay, go to next step. If wheel speed sensor output is not okay, repair or replace sensor and/or wiring as necessary.
  4. Check transmission input. See TEST C-2: TRANSMISSION INPUT INSPECTION under COMPONENT TESTS. If transmission input is okay, go to next step. If transmission input is not okay, repair or replace transmission switch and/or wiring as necessary.
  5. Check Torque On Demand (TOD) ECU or 4WD controller for proper operation. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  6. Ensure hydraulic unit is properly grounded. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace EHCU.
