Starter Solenoid Does Not Operate When Ignition Switch Is Turned To START Position

  1. Use test light to check for voltage at starter solenoid terminal "S" (Black/White wire) when ignition switch is turned to START position. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 3).
  2. Check ground cable and starter ground circuit. Repair or replace ground cable or circuit as necessary. If ground circuit is okay, repair or replace starter solenoid and/or starter.
  3. Check starter circuit for faulty connections between battery and starter solenoid. Repair as necessary. If connections are okay, repair or replace starter solenoid and/or starter.
