DTC 53-11: Motor Relay Stuck ON

- Problem verification:
- 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- 3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II) again.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame 53-11 Motor Relay Stuck ON
Is DTC 53-11 indicated?
YES : The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO : Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.
- Open wire check (GND line):
- 1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector
- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition IG LOCK (0)
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
Test circuit GND
Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 1 (BLK)
Test point 2 Body ground
Is there continuity?
YES : The GND wire is OK. Go to step 3.
NO : Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and body ground (G201).
- VSA modulator-control unit check (update):
- 1. Reconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector
- 2. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software See VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION , VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT UPDATE .
- 3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II) again.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame
Is DTC 53-11 indicated?
YES : Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit See VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT UPDATE , VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION .
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
- 1. Reconnect the following connector.
