STALLING SIDEDRAFT CARB: REPLACE PCV VALVE HOSE
TECHNICAL INFORMATION TIP
Reference Number(s): HON0042AP, Date of Issue:
VEHICLE STALLS
YEAR(S): 1983-90 with Sidedraft Carburetors
MANUFACTURER: Honda
MODELS: Prelude
ISSUE & TIP
Don't get fooled by a stalling problem on 1983 -1990 Honda Preludes equipped with dual sidedraft carburetors. Spraying around the rubber carburetor mounting spacers with carburetor cleaner may lead you to believe there is a vacuum leak at the spacers. The actual cause of the leak is a bad PCV hose.
To change the hose, raise the car on a hoist and remove the oil filter. This will give you enough room to access to the hose. You can then change the hose (Honda P/N 11856-PC7-000), and clean the PCV valve.
