Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Inspection

  1. IG Key "OFF".
  2. Disconnect ATM solenoid connector.
  3. Measure resistance between (signal) terminal and (ground) terminal of the ATM solenoid (Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor). (component side)

    Specification:

Oil Temperature Sensor  TEMP. (°F/°C)  RESISTANCE (kΩ)  TEMP. (°F/°C)  RESISTANCE (kΩ)
    -40°F/-40°C Approx. 139.5 176°F/80°C Approx. 1.08
    -4°F/-20°C Approx. 47.4 212°F/100°C Approx. 0.63
    32°F/0°C Approx. 18.6 248°F/120°C Approx. 0.38
    68°F/20°C Approx. 8.1 284°F/140°C Approx. 0.25
    104°F/40°C Approx. 3.8 320°F/160°C Approx. 0.16
    140°F/60°C Approx. 1.98
  4. Is the measured value within specifications?

    YES

    • Fault might be intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECU's connector or was repaired and ECU memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO

    • Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
    • If problem still occurs, replace Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
