Drive Shaft Seal

  1. Mount pump in Holding Fixture (J-29692-B) and tilt pump slightly towards you. Remove fast idle solenoid bracket.
  2. Remove drive shaft from pump with a rotating motion while pulling on shaft (shaft is retained by "O" ring clip). Remove and discard drive shaft seals.
  3. Install new seals with Seal Installer (J-29745-A). Lubricate installer with light grease and install 1 Black seal. Lubricate installer again and install Red seal. Lubricate installer once more and install remaining Black seal.
  4. Install a new "O" ring retaining clip on drive shaft. Install drive shaft, ensuring that drill points on shaft end and rotor are matched. Install fast idle solenoid bracket.
