Catalytic Converter - SVT: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Remove the catalytic converter lower heat shield.

  3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  4. Remove the HO2S sensor.

  5. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

  6. Remove the catalyst monitor sensor.

  7. CAUTION: Over bending of the exhaust flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure.

  8. Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.
  9. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe. Discard the gaskets and flange nuts. Install new studs, if necessary.

  10. Remove and discard the catalytic converter nuts. Install new studs, if necessary.

  11. NOTE: Support the catalytic converter.

  12. Remove the catalytic mounting bracket bolts.
  13. NOTE: Use caution removing the catalytic converter. Make sure not to damage the exhaust manifold, converter mating surfaces, or the studs.
  14. Remove the catalytic converter.
  15. Remove the catalytic converter heat shields, if necessary.
