Sable & Taurus

  1. Ensure wiper/washer circuit breaker is okay. Unplug connector from rear wiper/washer switch. Check Black wire for continuity between harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage on White/Purple wire of wiper/washer switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in White/Purple wire.
  2. Set rear wiper switch to ON position. Check for continuity between terminals for Tan/Orange and White/Pink wires. Check for continuity between terminals for Black/White and White/Purple wires. Replace switch if continuity does not exist.
  3. Check all harness wiring for shorts and continuity. Check motor ground circuit through liftgate window. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. If wiring and ground are okay, replace wiper motor.
