Pinpoint Test F - Panic Alarm Diagnosis

NOTE: DO NOT  run any PINPOINT TESTS unless directed by QUICK TEST.
  1. With headlight switch off, check if parking lights are on. If lights are on, go to step 8). If lights are not on, go to next step.
  2. Turn parking lights on. If parking lights come on, go to next step. If parking lights do not come on, go to step 6).
  3. Disconnect control module connector J1. Check for continuity between Tan/White wire of connector J1 and pins No. 1 and 15 of connector J1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, repair Black wire.
  4. Check parking light and automatic headlight relay. Replace relay as necessary. If relay is okay, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect control module connector J1. If parking lights shut off, replace control module. If parking lights do not shut off, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect headlight switch and control module connector J1. If parking lights shut off, replace headlight switch. If parking lights do not shut off, repair short-to-battery in Brown wire, or repair automatic headlight circuit.
  7. Press horn switch. If horn sounds, go to next step. If horn does not sound, go to step 13).
  8. Press horn button on steering wheel. If horn sounds, go to next step. If horn does not sound, go to step 12).
  9. Disconnect control module connector J1. Check for continuity between horn relay Yellow/Light Green wire and pin No. 26 of connector J1. If continuity exists, replace receiver module and retest system. If no continuity exists, repair Yellow/Light Green wire.
  10. Check horn and horn relay. If both are operational, go to next step. If either are not operating, repair as necessary.
  11. Check fuse No. 8 in fuse panel. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and/or repair Yellow/Light Green wire. Repeat TEST A QUICK TEST.
  12. Disconnect control module connector J1. If horn shuts off, replace control module. If horn does not shut off, go to next step.
  13. Disconnect horn switch and module connector J1. If horn shuts off, replace horn switch. If horn does not shut off, repair short-to-ground in Yellow/Light Green wire, and/or repair horn relay circuit.
  14. When alarm activates falsely, turn ignition on. If alarm continues to sound, problem is in anti-theft system. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM article for 1993 models.or ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM article for 1994 models. If alarm stops sounding, replace anti-theft control module and repeat TEST A QUICK TEST.
