Installation (3.0L Engine)
- The intake manifold, cylinder head and cylinder block mating surfaces should be clean and free of old silicone rubber sealer. Use a suitable solvent to clean these surfaces. Apply Silicone Rubber Sealer (D6AZ-19562-A) or equivalent to intersection of cylinder block assembly and head assembly at each of the 4 corners.
- Install front intake manifold seal and rear intake manifold seal. Secure with retaining features. Position intake manifold gaskets in place and insert locking tabs over tabs on cylinder head gaskets. Apply Silicone Rubber Sealer (D6AZ-19562-A) over gasket in same places as in step 1.
- Carefully lower intake manifold into position on cylinder block and cylinder heads to prevent smearing silicone sealer and causing gasketing voids. Install bolts and tighten to 11-20 ft. lbs. (15-28 N.m) in numerical sequence. See Fig 1 .
- Install thermostat housing and new gasket. Tighten attaching bolts to 6-8 ft. lbs. (8-12 N.m). Connect PCV line at PCV valve and exhaust manifold. Connect necessary electrical connectors. Connect vacuum hoses. Apply silicone sealer to split between head and intake manifold (4 places).
- Install rocker arm cover. Connect heater tube hose to heater elbow. Connect coolant by-pass hose. Connect radiator upper hose. Connect fuel lines at fuel charging assembly. Replace fuel lines and connector "O"-ring.
- Install air cleaner outlet tube. Fill and bleed cooling system. Connect battery ground cable. Start engine and check for coolant, oil, or fuel leaks. Check and adjust engine idle speed, transmission throttle linkage (overdrive transmission only) and speed control.
NOTE:
The 3.0L engine has aluminum components and requires a special unique corrosion inhabited coolant formulation to avoid any radiator damage.
