Door Ajar Test 4A - Right Front Door Ajar Short Circuit

NOTE: Perform DOOR AJAR TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. On Sebring Convertible, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 4B  . On Breeze, Cirrus and Stratus, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect right front door ajar switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right front door ajar switch.
  3. Disconnect right rear door ajar switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right rear door ajar switch.
  4. Disconnect left rear door ajar switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace left rear door ajar switch.
  5. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace BCM.
  6. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 17 (Tan/Orange wire) on BCM 20-pin connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan/Orange wire for short to ground.
  7. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 16 (Tan/Pink wire) on BCM 20-pin connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair Tan/Red wire (left rear door ajar switch sense circuit) for short to ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan/Pink wire short to ground.
