Inspecting Idle Air Control Motor Operation
NOTE:
For circuit and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.5L V6
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- Hold throttle 1/4 open and attempt to start engine. If engine started and stayed running, go to next step. If engine did not start and stay running, go to TEST NS-8A.
- Release throttle. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) motor connector. Connect IAC connector to a known good IAC motor. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate IAC motor. If IAC motor tip is moving in and out, replace original IAC motor. Perform TEST VER-1 .
- If IAC motor tip is not moving in and out, ensure no IAC motor related trouble codes are set. If any IAC motor related trouble codes are set, perform tests as necessary. If any IAC motor related trouble codes are not set, replace Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Perform TEST VER-1.
