Combination Valve Warning Light Switch Test

  1. Attach one end of bleeder hose to either rear brake bleeder screw. Immerse other end of bleeder hose in brake fluid container. Ensure master cylinder reservoir is full.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position and open bleeder screw. Apply brake pedal pressure. Warning lamp should be on. Close bleeder screw before releasing brake pedal pressure.
  3. Reapply moderate-to-heavy brake pedal pressure. Light should go off. Repeat test on front system. Results should be same. Turn ignition off. If lamp does not come on on either system, check for defective brake light circuit. Repair brake light circuit as necessary. If electrical system is okay, warning light switch part of combination valve is defective. Replace combination valve and retest.
