"C" Body (Park Avenue)
- Disconnect brakelight switch connector. Install scan tool to 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light connected to ground, probe power feed circuit at brakelight switch connector. Using scan tool, command BRAKE to shift output on. If test light illuminates, go to step 3. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Check power feed circuit of brakelight switch for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If condition was not corrected, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect brakelight switch connector. Disconnect BTSI solenoid connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light connected to ground, probe power feed circuit at BTSI solenoid connector. Using scan tool, command BRAKE to shift output on. If test light illuminates, go to step 8. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Check power feed circuit of BTSI solenoid for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If condition was not corrected, go to step 7.
- Inspect for poor connections at Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector. Repair as necessary. If condition was not corrected, go to next step.
- Replace BCM, then go to step 11. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Check brakelight switch for proper installation and adjustment. Inspect for poor connections at brakelight switch. Repair as necessary. If condition was not corrected, replace brakelight switch, then go to step 11.
- Connect a test light between power feed circuit and ground circuit of BTSI solenoid. Using scan tool, command BRAKE to shift output on. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10. If test light illuminates, go to next step.
- Check BTSI solenoid for proper adjustment. Inspect for poor connections at BTSI solenoid. Repair as necessary. If condition was not corrected, replace BTSI solenoid, then go to step 11.
- Repair ground circuit of BTSI solenoid, then go to next step.
- Ensure all components disconnected or removed during testing are reconnected and installed on vehicle. Ensure BTSI system operates correctly. See SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If system does not operate correctly, repeat step 1.
