Power Seat Headrest Does Not Move Up Or Down (A45 With Ac9)
- If memory seats system check was performed, go to next step. If memory seats system check was not performed, go to MEMORY SEATS SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition on. Connect scan tool to DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC). Select MEMORY SEAT MODULE DATA DISPLAY - INPUTS function on scan tool. Move headrest switch to UP position. If scan tool indicated an input signal was received when switch was activated, go to next step. If scan tool did not indicate an input signal was received when switch was activated, go to step 8 .
- Move headrest switch to DOWN position. If scan tool indicated an input signal was received when switch was activated, go to next step. If scan tool did not indicate an input signal was received when switch was activated, go to step 9 .
- Disconnect left headrest motor connector. Connect a fused jumper between battery voltage and either terminal of headrest motor. Connect a second fused jumper between other terminal of headrest motor to ground. If motor runs, go to next step. If motor does not run, go to step 11 .
- Check for open in or short to ground in Yellow wire between Memory Seat Module (MSM) and left headrest motor. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If faulty circuit is found, go to step 12 .
- Check for open or short to ground in Purple wire between MSM and left headrest motor. If circuit is okay, go to next step. If faulty circuit is found, go to step 13 .
- Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Disconnect left seat switch Gray, 16-pin connector. Disconnect Memory Seat Module (MSM) Red, 32-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Black wire between seat switch connector terminal "K" and MSM connector C2, terminal B9. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 10 . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 14 .
- Disconnect left seat switch Gray, 16-pin connector. Disconnect Memory Seat Module (MSM) Red, 32-pin connector C2. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Dark Blue/White wire between seat switch connector terminal "M" and MSM connector C2, terminal B10. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to step 15 .
- Replace left seat switch. See POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Replace left headrest motor. See POWER SEATS - SEVILLE article. After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open or short to ground in Yellow wire between MSM and left headrest motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open or short to ground in Purple wire between MSM and left headrest motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open in White/Black wire between MSM and left seat switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Dark Blue/White wire between MSM and left seat switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
